Beijing reiterated its stand that signing the Non-Proliferation Treaty was essential to be admitted into the Nuclear Suppliers Group.

China on Friday said it has never perceived India and Pakistan as atomic powers and precluded stretching out such a status to North Korea.

“I might want to state that China has never perceived India and Pakistan as atomic weapon states,” Foreign Ministry representative Lu Kang told a media instructions in Beijing. “China’s situation on the arrangement on the non-multiplication of atomic weapons stays firm and unaltered.”

Lu was alluding to the Non-Proliferation Treaty, which neither India nor Pakistan are signatories of. India had formally connected for NSG enrollment in May 2016.

The representative was answering to an inquiry on if China would perceive North Korea as an atomic state like India and Pakistan after talks between United States President Donald Trump and North Korean pioneer in Vietnam separated over Pyongyang’s refusal to surrender two atomic handling plants.
