Varthaman returned home from Pakistan on Friday to a hero’s welcome, two days after he was captured by Pakistani army when his MiG 21 was shot down.
New Delhi: Leaders cutting crosswise over partisan divisions respected the arrival of Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan Varthaman from imprisonment in Pakistan on Friday and praised him for his balance and boldness and for making the nation glad.
PM Narendra Modi respected the IAF Wing Commander, saying the country is glad for his model bravery.
He said the nation’s military is a motivation for the 130 crore Indians.

BJP president Amit Shah said Friday that the whole country is pleased with the fearlessness and valor of the pilot and that India is happy to have him back.
“Dear Wing Commander Abhinandan, the whole country is glad for your fearlessness and valor. India is happy to have you back. May you keep on serving the country and IAF with unparalleled energy and devotion. All the best for your splendid future,” Shah said.
Congress president Rahul Gandhi invited IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan said his respect, balance, and dauntlessness have made all in India pleased.
“Wing Cdr. Abhinandan, your respect, balance, and dauntlessness made every one of us glad. Welcome back and much love,” he said on Twitter.

Pakistani authorities gave over Varthaman to Indian authorities, including from the IAF, at the Attari-Wagah Border.
