Xiaomi India, on Saturday, announced that the company is increasing the price of some of its products in India. The reason behind the price hike is because the rupee value has depreciated against the dollar by nearly 15 percent. As a result of which the input cost has increased and hence Xiaomi India has hiked the prices of Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, Mi Powerbank 2i, and Mi TVs. To recall, at the launch of all these products, Xiaomi had announced that the prices are introductory and are subject to change. In addition to Xiaomi, Realme CEO has also announced the price hike for Realme C1 and Realme 2. The price of the Realme 2 Pro remains unchanged.
“As you are aware, the rupee has depreciated against the dollar by nearly 15 percent since the beginning of the year, which has resulted in a significant rise in the input cost for us. To offset this, a few of our products will witness marginal price adjustment and will now move from their introductory price phase announced during their launch in September,” Xiaomi India notes. The products include — the Redmi 6, the Redmi 6A, Mi LED TV 4C Pro 32-inch, Mi LED TV 4A Pro 49-inch and 1000mAh Mi Power Bank 2i.
